Free stays available
You can stay on Free with the same end-to-end encryption for your live vault. No card required to keep a small vault and claim path alive.
Continuity
HeirVault is built so configured check-ins and release timing keep working after you stop paying. Export account metadata while your account is active.

Release continuity
Once your vault has a check-in schedule and designated beneficiaries, missed check-ins still move through the waiting period and release on that schedule. Stopping a paid plan does not silently turn off delivery timing.
You can stay on Free with the same end-to-end encryption for your live vault. No card required to keep a small vault and claim path alive.
If a paid plan lapses, you lose paid capacity (storage, people, Shield tools) until you resubscribe. You can still check in, and an already-configured release path still follows your timing rules. Ready direct-account and owner-shared handoffs remain valid, but you cannot create or change those modes on Free.
We do not guarantee that a beneficiary opens every email or downloads every file. We promise operational continuity for the check-in and release machinery we run.
If we shut down
Your live vault is protected by end-to-end, zero-knowledge encryption with keys only you control. Automatic delivery still depends on HeirVault running, which is why exports and offline copies matter.
Download your account-metadata export from privacy settings while your account is active. That export is not a decrypted vault export. Keep your own offline copies of critical docs and files.
If service operations change materially, we will communicate through the product and account email. Keep offline copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Shutdown does not create a backdoor. That means your zero-knowledge live-vault ciphertext without your passphrase or recovery kit remains unreadable to us. Assisted handoffs that still store a protected key follow the delivery mode you chose.
