Honest limits

What this does not replace

Corporate and estate law
Formation docs, equity agreements, and wills still need proper counsel. This is timed digital handoff, not legal transfer.
Shared team password management
Keep day-to-day autofill in a team password manager if you want. Put contingency passwords, docs, and files here for release.
Duress or coercion protection
Shield adds a duress passphrase (a second passphrase if you are forced to unlock) with a decoy vault and silent alert. Witnesses (Pro and Shield) add human confirmation after the waiting period; they do not stop forced check-ins by themselves. See the Duress passphrase page for details.
Proof of why you went silent
We do not investigate cause. Timing rules fire the same way either way.

Co-founders, counsel, a trusted operator, or family, each with a scoped handoff. Release goes to contacts you name, not to the open internet.

On Pro and Shield, witnesses can confirm release before beneficiaries get access. That adds human judgment after the waiting period. For device-level coercion, Shield also offers a duress passphrase: a second passphrase for when you are forced to unlock.

No. Your live vault is protected by end-to-end, zero-knowledge encryption. Contents encrypt in your browser before upload, so HeirVault cannot decrypt your live vault. Assisted delivery stores a handoff key only for that beneficiary's handoff and is not end-to-end to the beneficiary alone.

Start free. Same leave-and-claim path as Pro and Shield. Choose Shield only if you need device check-ins and tighter intervals.
